Elmetriss Fickling aka “Femi”, is a revolutionary spoken word artist & poet born and raised in the city of Gardena, CA. Her poetry is primarily focused on conveying a message of truth, justice, empowerment, and freedom for people of African Ancestry. Elmetriss
began to write poetry as a child and has written continuously ever since. In 1999, she began to share her spoken word at open mics in Indianapolis, Long Beach and Atlanta. She wrote, produced & published her first spoken word album and accompanying book of
poetry in 2001. Since then, she has been invited to perform at a number of venues across the country. She has also been featured on various virtual platforms and radio stations.

Elmetriss loves writing poetry, lyrics, short stories and plays, as much as performing spoken word. She is the author of a self-published memoir entitled “Stronger Than Hell: A Memoir of Growth & Healing”, which includes a collection of poems written to share in her
experience of healing, growth and restoration from her childhood and young adult trauma.
